Custom home architect in Middle Tennessee
Paul Packman designs custom homes in Brentwood, Franklin, and across Middle Tennessee. You work with Paul directly, from the first conversation about your site through construction.
What does an architect do on a custom home?
An architect turns your site, your priorities, and your budget into a house that can be permitted, priced, and built. On a custom home, Paul's work covers five stages: the first conversation, design, permitting, coordinating the engineers and other consultants, and staying involved while your builder builds.
What kinds of houses does Paul design?
His portfolio includes custom homes of many sizes in Tennessee and California.
Can Paul design a house on a sloped or wooded lot?
Yes. Paul designs houses for sloped lots. For what a slope changes in the foundation, the drainage, the driveway, and the cost, read the article on building on a sloped lot.
Do you need an architect to build a house in Tennessee?
For most single-family homes, Tennessee law does not require one. The state's architect licensing statute exempts one-family and two-family dwellings from the requirement that plans be prepared by a registered architect or engineer. A lender, a homeowners association, or a subdivision's design review may still ask for one.
What happens first?
A first conversation with Paul about your site, your priorities, your budget, and your timing. If you have not bought land yet, that is a good time to talk. It is free, and usually runs under thirty minutes by phone, or 1 to 2 hours if you meet by video or in person.
